New Information Should NOT Be 'Depressing"
Recalibrate How You're Reacting
I’m working on many other essays currently. But there’s one thing I’d like to discuss… err elaborate on. Often times when I go off on one of my rants, whether in-person (IRL) or on Spaces or on podcasts, my peers/audience follow-up with, “man, that’s really depressing.”
I’m sorry, but what about receiving accurate information, laid out in a comprehensible manner is ‘depressing’? Do you get depressed every time a stoplight turns red? Do you get depressed every time something doesn’t go your way? Every time you run into a hardship or difficulty is it really so bad that you get depressed?
The kinds of information I work to share can be daunting, sure. But depressing? No. If you are reacting in this manner then it is of my opinion that you are focusing too narrowly on the obstacles and hurdles. When you should be working to visualize a path around, over, or through them. If you go for a drive, do you focus on the objects in your path that you could hit?
NO, you do not.
Because you steer towards where you are looking and where your focus is directed.
The reason I even started writing 2.5 years ago was to bring attention to difficulties & issues that (I have learned) many do not realize exist. My entire aim is to help identify problems so that you can begin working on devising strategies to better prepare, let alone profit. Whether its macro, geopolitics, or health; my aim is simply to help. That’s why the subscription is only $5/month. It’s not enough to make a living off of for a reason, it’s just to help support in any small manner. If I was doing this for profit, I’d be employing disgusting strategies to farm engagement on social media, or a discord group, or whatever. I wholeheartedly just aim to help improve understanding and comprehension; a strong & educated individual builds a strong & educated community and is then capable of raising strong & educated children.
The moral of the story is this: it is how you react to new information that determines everything. Are you really the type to become saddened at gaining better insight into challenges? Or are you the type to feel empowered at gaining improved understanding? The lens with which you view the world has now become more comprehensive; gaining more depth.
Sure you might have to work on where your focus wanders, like Superman learning how to control his powers. But is being compared to the likes of Superman a bad thing? That sure is how you’re reacting.
Be like Clark, gain greater power (knowledge) and learn how to control your focus.
Okay that’s all. Rant over. More to come.
